1/3 of the City's Fire Department face layoffs September 21st 2014,

SAFER Grant money provided by FEMA will stop this year.

The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER)

The goal of SAFER is to enhance the local fire departments' abilities to comply with staffing,

response and operational standards established by the National Fire Protection Association.
